Triodos: the sustainable bank - by Olivier Marquet[Proceedings] by Olivier Marquet

Olivier Marquet is the managing director of the bank Triodos Belgium. He graduated from a law university and chose to work in the field of finance. He used to work for various European institutions, as a financial director, or as the manager of investment funds. At the age of forty-five, as he was managing the European Founds of BNP-Paribas in Luxembourg, he became the head of Triodos Belgium.

Olivier Marquet talks about working in the banking sector, as he does in the role of director of Triodos Belgium. For Olivier Marquet, the first role for a bank is to collect the savings of individuals in order to finance business projects. Through the success of Triodos, he shows that it is not only possible but also necessary to commit to sustainable development, while generating growth and profit. Olivier Marquet is an advocate for a different banking model, attached to the fundamentals of the business - in particular he advocates the separation of private and investment banking – while never failing to innovate.
