Freefall - by Joseph E. Stiglitz[Reading report] by Nicolas Trimoulet

The author was part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC in 2012. Nicolas Trimoulet is a former student of the French Ecole Normale Supérieure and holds a degree in law and an "agrégation" in economics and management.

The Great Recession has impacted more people worldwide than any other crisis. Stiglitz traces the origins of this economic crisis (« market fundamentalism », deregulation etc), outlines the flawed responses of our governments and presents the alternatives. Going deeper, Stiglitz offers an insight in this broken system, revealing that there are choices we have to make to fix it. He argues convincingly for a restoration of the balance between government and markets. Most of all, Stiglitz tries to offer a clear accounting of why so many people feel disillusioned today and how we can realize a prosperous economy and a moral society for the future.
