Whereas the German sociologist Max Weber argues in his work The protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism that the Western world has lost its guilt about the idea of making profit withthe Protestant Reformation, the author of Franciscan Richness Giacomo Todeschini, seeks to demonstrate here that the roots of Christian economic reflexion are older; according to him, the Franciscan Order, founded in the thirteenth century by Saint Francis of Assisi has developed a new way of understanding the relations between economics and faith, that remains really influential in our common economic language.
