The Atlas of Migrants in Europe Critical geography of migration policies - by Olivier Clochard[Reading report] by Marion Coutel

2013-05-25

The author was part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC in 2012

This atlas draws a critical balance from European migration policies and from their human impacts. It explains key concepts and data, such as the European policy of visas, the activities of the Frontex agency, the functioning of the administrative detention centres, dynamics of control externalisation and agreements with third countries. Due to restrictive migration policies, the respect of fundamental human rights decreases: asylum seekers are less and less helped and cared for, whereas the roads leading to European countries are more and more dangerous for migrants.
