The Future of the economy - Beyond economystification - by Jean-Pierre Dupuy[Reading report] by Laure-Anne Benoît

The author is part of the "Alternative Management" third year specialization program in HEC Paris

The economy has become all mighty in our society. Even politics capitulated in front of it whereas they are an essential source of its self-transcendence, that is to say its ability to self-regulate by producing its own exteriority. Max Weber’s thesis about the Calvinist choice shows that the economic rationality is an illusion that leads to a dishonest withdrawal instead of a deliberate choice of one’s destiny. Only the prophetic dimension of politics can get us out of this “economystification” and give us back our lucidity on future.
