The End of the West, the Birth of the World - by Hervé Kempf [Reading report] by Manon Le Bourdiec

2014-03-01

The author is part of the "Alternative Management" third year specialization program in HEC Paris

At the beginning of the 21st century, humanity is at the completion of a cycle fed by numerous founding myths such as technical and scientific progress, infinite growth, positive finance and unlimited resources. The human society is facing its responsibilities and is at a shifting point. Denying the process will only raise tensions and increase sufferings of disadvantaged people. Thus, it is necessary to adapt ourselves and to set up a clear change, especially a change of the Western consuming society. The reduction of the ecological footprint, the decrease of the gap between rich and poor people inside the humanity can only happen thanks to the impoverishment of western countries.
