Indian Growth: a review of macro-economic issues – by Christophe Cottet[Reading report] by Juliette Carcano

The author is part of the Alternative Management third year specialization program at HEC Paris

In this article, Christophe Cottet enumerates the causes of the spectacular growth that India has experienced over the last 4 decades. Then, he analyzes the macro-economic risks raised by its recent economic slowdown. The author identifies four major issues: the creation of proper jobs to absorb the growing active population, the need to fill the deficit in infrastructures without accumulating more public debt, the deficit in foreign trade and the necessary reform of its banking and financial system
