Meaning in work: in what sense does a professional reorientation restore meaning to work?[Essay] by Yann Auger, Sarah de Barthès, Yann Devaux, Vaïté Leprince-Ringuet

2009-03-31

The authors were part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC Paris in 2008/2009.

This document is the synthesis of an investigation researching professionals who changed jobs. The main issue was first, to determine to what extent the search for meaning entails a retraining, then to know if this reemployment eventually does give rise to the meaning that has been sought after, focusing on the person's relationship to work, the role played by work in the person's life, the perception of work purposefulness, and general satisfaction of the worker.
