Collective intelligence and alternative currencies - by Jean-François Noubel[Proceedings] by Jean-François Noubel

2010-03-23

The author founded The transitioner network.

Jean-François Noubel presents the evolution of humans through their transitions between different forms of collective intelligence. If writing has allowed us to pass from an original, local collective intelligence structure to the dominant model we know today (the pyramidal form), it would seem as though new technologies, and especially new networks, will soon allow us to surpass this paradigm by restoring sovereignty to individuals while remaining within complex global groups. The dominant model, founded on the rarity and the centralization of currency is in fact undermined by its own limits. Today, humanity is living a “Monopoly endgame” configuration in which under-monetarization restricts the exchanges of the vast majority of actors. Jean-François Noubel promises us that in the very near future there will be an explosion of initiatives to create alternative currencies, based on the model of media technologies in the preceding decade, soon relegating traditional currencies to mere tradition. And to back up his prophecy, he proposes to become a pioneer in the rejection of the dominant model.
