Consumer credit : responsible but twice guilty? - by Philippe Lemoine[Proceedings] by Philippe Lemoine

2011-07-07

Philippe Lemoine has been working for six years as the chairman and chief executive officer of LaSer, which is the first European group of intermediation and customer relationship management. He has a very eclectic career, since he used to work as a social scientist, as a computer scientist, while being at the same time a trade union activist at the CFDT. He was also chairman of the group Galeries Lafayette from 1990 to 2005

Philippe Lemoine is the chairman and chief executive officer of LaSer, which is the first European group of intermediation and customer relationship management. He gives his analysis of the consumer credit market in France, which, following him, is guilty in two ways : guilty as a credit and guilty as a cog of the consumer society. The recent legislative reform, that Lemoine actively supported, could put an end to these two anomalies. Lastly, the CEO of LaSer describes the possible evolutions of the market, the ongoing transformations of his company and his perception of a responsible credit, which could lever up households' consumption.
