Durabilis : from a Foundation to an Impact Investing Company[Proceedings] by Sebastiaan Saverys

2014-11-06

Engineer by training, Sebastiaan Saverys is founder and CEO of Saverys,an impact-investing firm dedicated to development through the promotion of management competence and tools in small and medium-sized firms.

As CEO and founder of Durabilis, Sebastiaan Saverys tells us about his experience and about the transformation of a foundation into an impact investing company while striving for keeping the company’s original philosophy and values. This philosophy could be summed up by the following sentence: “Doing good and well while doing business”. These values are oriented towards solidarity towards developing countries. One central conviction is that small developing countries first of all need management. Sebastiaan’s ambition for Durabilis is to address the challenge of bringing to small and medium-sized firms, from Asia and Africa, knowledge and competences in management. Concretely, how can it be done? Which juridical structures can embody this mission? Which kind of difficulties and obstacles are encountered?
