Energy self-sufficiency with renewable energies - Developing the use of biomass with short supply chains: the case of rapeseed oil.[Research paper] by Alexis Lemeillet

The author was part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC in 2012. He has a specific interest for the implementation of projects that are economically and ecologically viable. He currently works as a consultant for Bio Intelligence Service, which is specialized in sustainable development strategies.

Our economic and social model is not lasting. While the depletion of our fossil energy sources is, at the current consumption rate and without any viable alternative, inescapable, we wonder how to explain why renewable energies and initiatives in favour of energy independence are so little developed in France. This research work intends to bring answers to this question, from the study of the community of communes Le Mené, in Bretagne, which intends to reach energy self-sufficiency in 2030, through the development of a short rapeseed oil supply chain.
