After having obtained a master's degree in law, Philippe Joffard obtains a D.E.A in political sciences. In 1983, he has the opportunity to collaborate with Yves Bossard at the Bossard Group, whee he learns corporate organisation and management. It is Yves Bossard that encourages him to takeover the management of Lafuma where he is President of the Board since 1986.

The Lafuma Group is specialised in sportswears and sport and open air equipment. Starting in 1992, Philippe Joffard begins to implement an eco-conception strategy, first intuitively, then more systematically, convincing gradually all the company's personnel. Why do good economics and good ecology go hand in hand? How can sustainable development be integrated in practice throughout the whole supply chain? Why it is not a managerial new mania but indeed, the result of a long-term industrial effort?
