The authors were part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC Paris in 2007/2008

Within the framework of the “Scenario” course, we chose to study the economic and social changes entailed by the French population ageing and to draw up a parallel with the evolution of the immigrant influx into France by the year 2050, in the perspective of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. To what extent will the proportion of elderly people increase? What economic and social transformations will occur and what needs in labour will it result in? Will the French government have the necessary means to lead an appropriate policy concerning these transformations? We have thus designed four different scenarios, which are plausible although they may appear extreme…
