Shareholder engagement or how to overturn the order of things[Proceedings] by Olivier de Guerre


After having worked for twenty years in the finance sector and in large European and international financial groups, Olivier de Guerre decided in 2001 to found PhiTrust, a French management company that develops shareholder engagement strategies.

PhiTrust assists minority shareholders in developing shares with an aim to attract the attention of company executives so that they will focus their efforts on governance and societal and environmental issues within their corporate strategy. How did Olivier de Guerre come to develop this idea and to enact it through PhilTrust? What were the key factors which made him want to overturn the established order of things by presenting shareholders with their civic responsibilities? During this conference Olivier de Guerre will retrace this path, as well as supplementing his personal narrative with a series of references and concrete examples concerning how to instigate action through shareholder engagement.
