The Communist Party Manifesto - by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels[Reading report] by Aurélien Philippe

2008-03-23

The author was part of the HEC Paris MS "Sustainable development" in 2006/2007

The Communist Party Manifesto is neither a detailed and precise text nor a program. The authors want to analyze society, and that leads to it being compartmentalized in classes; they also want to demonstrate that a trans-national force exists, that it has arisen, is developing, and organizing itself; that it is called the Proletariat. They want to stress the emergence of a new embryonic political force that wants to be acknowledged: the Communism. Therefore, the Manifesto aims at giving an overall picture of the new rising ideas of the Communist league at that time.  Above all, the authors' work is to popularize their ambitions, their ideas, their will, or in other words, to make them available for the class that is at the centre of their aspirations: the Proletariat. The Manifesto is more the result of slogans and axes, and shows real struggles.
