The relationship between the board and the executive team in major French associations[Research paper] by Edouard Tricard

The French associations are currently characterized by significant challenges, such as the need to cope with an increasing economic constraint, while at the same time, in a crisis situation, action sites are more numerous. In addition, the French associations are characterized by the coexistence, within them, of volunteers and employees, whose employment is booming. Therefore, what role to give employees in associations? How to ensure that the professionnalisation of associations does not extinguish their militant flame ? This study attempts to provide answers to these questions by analyzing, from interviews, the relationship between the board of directors and the executive team of major associations as well as the responses that the various actors offer in order to reduce the observed dysfunctioning.
