The Shock Doctrine: the rise of disaster capitalism - by Naomi Klein[Reading report] by Guillaume Narbonne

2009-10-23

HEC Alumnus, Class of 2009, Alternative Management program. Interested in sustainable development, knowledge economy issues, technological and social innovation.

In The Shock Doctrine, Naomi Klein strongly denounces ultraliberalism and its methods of implementation for the past 35 years. By adopting a chronological approach and evoking precise examples, she makes her militant point stronger while shedding light on the logic of the shock doctrine and disaster capitalism, according to which ultraliberal reforms can only be implemented after a violent shock and often with a bloody repression.
