Tourism, business and ethics : sustainable tourism and the French market[Research paper] by Romain Lhez


The author was part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC Paris in 2006/2007

Sustainable tourism is a popular and widely discussed concept. These discussions often lead to gross distortion of reality. Simple questions are to be asked in order to make progress in the debate: Who is promoting sustainable tourism? What logic is underlying it?

A comparative survey was carried out resting on more than 1500 parameters to answer these questions. It will be then possible to make a distinction between responsible and classic Tour operators. This study will bring food for thought on tackling tourism.
