Uneconomic growth, entropy, ecology, economy - by Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen[Reading report] by David Roger

2008-03-23

The author was part of the "Alternative Management" third year program in HEC Paris in 2006/2007

Economic development can not continue if the economic thinking is not deeply redesigned. It must give up its classical mecanism and become more transdisciplinary, in particular by taking into account the principles of thermodynamics which link techno-economic development, biologic evolution, global ecology and cosmology. Based on the scientific principles of thermodynamics and especially the law of entropy, the author shows that no technology will allow to totally eradicate the entropic aspects of the transformation and use of raw materials.
